Backend Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend and edge components integrating detection and enforcement capabilities into customer environments.
• Develop secure, reliable, and maintainable services and SDKs using JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Own features across technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Optimize latency-sensitive components operating directly in the request path.
• Solve portability and integration challenges across platforms, runtimes, and customer architectures.
• Investigate production and customer-integration issues and collaborate with Product, Security Research, Customer Success Engineering, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on software development experience focused on backend or platform engineering.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, including production experience with Node.js.
• Solid understanding of backend fundamentals, HTTP services, APIs, and web infrastructure.
• Experience writing clean, testable, maintainable code and owning features through production.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and complex technical issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams while adapting to new platforms, runtimes, and programming languages.

Nice to have

• Experience with CDNs such as Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai, or AWS CloudFront.
• Familiarity with cloud, serverless, or edge-computing environments.
• Experience with Go, Rust, C, or C++.
• Knowledge of HTTP, networking, reverse proxies, web servers, NGINX, or Kubernetes.
• Experience developing SDKs, developer tools, integrations, or software deployed in customer-controlled environments.
