Junior Cost Analyst (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Hybrid on/off client site in Washington, DC and the National Capital Region, United States; work may support locations across the Continental United States.

What you will do

• Provide entry-level analytical support to senior and journeyman cost estimators.
• Collect, validate, organize, and quality-check cost and program data.
• Populate government-furnished Excel cost model templates under supervision.
• Support AFTOC data pulls and basic analysis for legacy Operation & Support cost models.
• Prepare draft tables, charts, and documentation, and incorporate reviewer comments.
• Support annual estimate updates and independent cost estimates for Air Force cost analysis programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, data science, economics, or a related analytical field.
• 0–2 years of professional analytical experience or entry-level exposure to cost analysis, economics, data analytics, or engineering support.
• Demonstrated analytical reasoning, critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to follow standardized methodologies.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel skills with formulas, pivot tables, and charts.
• Current SECRET security clearance required.
• Ability to work alongside a full-time senior contractor cost estimator and perform the role under close supervision.

Nice to have

• Experience in the aerospace and defense sector.
• Familiarity with cost-estimating concepts, AFI 65-508, or Air Force cost analysis.
• Experience with Access, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, or data analytic tools.
