Salary: $59,922–$100,280 per year, with the actual amount varying by location, skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors.

What you will do

  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused walk-around counseling, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up.
  • Deliver behavioral health, training, and wellness presentations and participate in health fairs and installation activities.
  • Consult with installation command and military branch points of contact on behavioral health needs and program delivery.
  • Respond to critical incidents, surge and on-demand events, and special requests, including schedule flexibility for urgent needs.
  • Maintain confidential daily activity records and build relationships with community resources, service members, families, and installation contacts.
  • Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocols and participate in supervision, training, quality improvement, and pilot programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health or a related field, such as social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or counseling.
  • Current unrestricted independent counseling licensure as an LCSW, LISW, LMFT, LMHC, LCMHC, LPC, or equivalent in a US state, District of Columbia, territory, or commonwealth.
  • Less than two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • US citizenship and fluent English are required.
  • Pass NACI, Installation Records Check, criminal background, and FBI fingerprint checks.
  • Hold a valid US state driver’s license; a US military vehicle operator’s permit may also be required for some temporary-duty assignments.
