MFLC Assignment Ready Counselor (Florida Panhandle)

Location: Eglin AFB, Florida, United States; assignments may take place at military installations, schools, youth programs, and summer camps.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to military service members, spouses, children, and youth.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, consultations, and follow-up.
• Support child and youth settings, including childcare centers, schools, youth programs, and summer camps, when assigned.
• Deliver health and wellness presentations, trainings, health fairs, and installation activities.
• Respond to critical incidents, special requests, duty-to-warn situations, and restricted-reporting cases according to DoD protocols.
• Coordinate with installation Points of Contact, community resources, supervisors, and military stakeholders while maintaining confidential activity reporting.

Requirements

• US citizenship and fluent English are required.
• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
• Independent licensure as a mental health counselor, therapist, social worker, or equivalent behavioral health clinician is required.
• Clinical experience and advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Availability to accept short-notice assignments of varying duration, including weekends and full-time coverage from one weekend to two weeks.
• Ability to work at military installations and school settings, follow site-specific requirements, and provide required immunization or vaccination records when applicable.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, military-family experience, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For CYB assignments, experience with children and youth and a specialty in child and adolescent development or psychology.
• School-setting experience for counselors covering school-based assignments.
