Salary: $59,922–$100,280 annually, with actual pay varying by location, qualifications, education, experience, and other permitted factors.

What you will do

  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused walk-around counseling, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up for eligible service members and families.
  • Deliver training, health and wellness presentations, and participate in health fairs and installation activities.
  • Build working relationships with installation points of contact, military units, community resources, and program supervisors.
  • Respond to critical incidents, surge and on-demand events, and urgent special requests.
  • Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocols.
  • Document counselor activity, participate in supervision and quality-improvement activities, and support pilot programs and required training.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health or a related field, such as social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or counseling.
  • Current unrestricted independent licensure is required, such as LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent authorization to practice independently.
  • Less than two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, fluent in English, and local to the assigned military installation.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite, internet navigation, smartphones/tablets, applications, and videoconferencing platforms.
  • Must pass NACI, Installation Records Check, criminal background, and FBI fingerprint checks; a valid U.S. state driver’s license is required.
