TL;DR
Certified Peer Support Worker (Mental Health and Substance Use Recovery): Providing non-clinical, evidence-based peer support and member advocacy for people managing mental health and substance use conditions with an accent on recovery planning, wellness self-management, and community-based care coordination. Focus on developing WRAP plans, supporting transitions after crises, navigating health and social services, and using lived recovery experience to strengthen resilience and health outcomes.

Location: Remote work from home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or the surrounding area, with extensive travel to meet members in the community.

Salary: $41,505–$62,255 annually.

What you will do

  • Provide non-clinical, evidence-based peer support to members with mental health and substance use conditions.
  • Guide members in creating Wellness Recovery Action Plans and identifying wellness, crisis prevention, and whole-health goals.
  • Support members with problem-solving, follow-up appointments, transitions between treatment settings, and post-crisis planning.
  • Connect members and families with health services, community resources, and peer, parent, and family support networks.
  • Advocate for member needs, identify service gaps, and educate providers, staff, members, and families on recovery and resilience principles.
  • Coordinate with the Magellan care coordination team, document interactions, and respond appropriately to crisis or safety risks.

Requirements

  • Must live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or the surrounding area, and be able to travel regularly within the community.
  • Current state-required CPRS, CPS, CPSS, CRPS, PRSS, or Peer Specialist qualification.
  • Must be a self-identified person in recovery and have current or former experience using mental health or substance use services.
  • Must have or obtain the National Peer Support Credential (NCPS/NCPRSS) within one year of hire.
  • GED or high school education, a valid in-state driver license, and a vehicle in good working condition.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and community systems, recovery principles, WRAP, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
