Principal Software Engineer (Java/Python)

Salary: $121,222–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead large-scale, complex, cross-functional engineering projects and direct groups of 10–20 engineers, including offshore associates.
• Translate project requirements into technical solutions, design artifacts, prototypes, and production-ready code.
• Define product and component architecture, select architectural patterns, and analyze reliability, operability, performance, and security requirements.
• Design and implement RESTful backend services, microservices, distributed systems, and high-availability applications.
• Lead discovery phases, proof-of-concepts, root cause analysis, design reviews, code reviews, and defect-prevention initiatives.
• Collaborate with product management, business, project management, web operations, and user experience teams to define priorities and deliver solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field with 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate software engineering experience; or a master’s degree with 3 years of such experience.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful backend services using Java or Python and applying object-oriented programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining microservices-based architectures, distributed systems, and high-availability applications.
• Experience developing frontend components with React and designing and consuming client-server APIs.
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging/event-driven systems, relational and NoSQL databases, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience deploying and running applications in cloud or containerized environments. Any amount of experience with the required skills is accepted.
