Sr. Consultant, Software Engineer | Engineering Strategy & Modernization Lead (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based within commuting distance of Columbus, Ohio, with in-office presence two days per week.

Salary: $149,000–$262,000 national annual range; expected starting salary range of $149,000–$223,000.

What you will do

• Shape engineering strategy and technical direction across the Personal Lines Solutions application portfolio.
• Translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions, recommendations, and implementation roadmaps.
• Drive modernization through APIs, cloud technologies, platform improvements, Guidewire initiatives, and application optimization.
• Apply AI capabilities to improve software delivery, engineering productivity, business outcomes, and IT operations, including agentic AI use cases.
• Promote secure software engineering, DevSecOps, release quality, operational efficiency, and reduced technology risk.
• Influence product, engineering, quality assurance, and operations teams while mentoring engineers through design reviews and technical standards.

Requirements

• Must be based within a commutable distance of Columbus, Ohio and work in the office two days per week.
• Employer-sponsored work authorization is not available, and the role does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.
• Eight or more years of analysis and technology experience.
• Hands-on technical leadership experience, including leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript, with extensive software development lifecycle knowledge.
• Ability to solve sophisticated business and development problems, communicate with technical and nontechnical audiences, and influence across teams.

Nice to have

• Guidewire experience.
• Experience applying AI to software delivery, engineering efficiency, or business outcomes.
• Insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
• Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field; relevant technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates may substitute.
