TL;DR

Location: Hampton, Virginia, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis; candidates must be local or willing to relocate to become local.

Salary: $59,922–$100,280 annual base salary, adjusted according to location, qualifications, and other permitted factors.

What you will do

  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to children and youth of military service members and their families.
  • Conduct assessments, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, referrals, and follow-up.
  • Support child development centers, youth programs, summer camps, school settings, parents, and facility personnel.
  • Deliver training, health and wellness presentations, health-fair participation, and installation activities focused on children and youth.
  • Maintain confidential activity documentation, community-resource relationships, and professional partnerships with installation Points of Contact.
  • Respond to critical incidents and urgent requests while managing duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocols.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental-health-related field.
  • Current unrestricted independent U.S. counseling licensure is required, such as LCSW, LICSW, LCSW-R, LICSW-CP, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent.
  • Less than two years of post-licensure clinical experience, with experience working with children and youth and knowledge of child and adolescent development or psychology.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluent English are required.
  • Ability to work on military installations and in school or outdoor settings, respond to emergent situations, and meet site-specific requirements such as immunization records.
  • Successful completion of CNACI, Installation Records Check, criminal-history, and FBI fingerprint checks; a valid U.S. state driver’s license is required unless waived.
