MFLC Assignment Ready Counselor

Location: United States; assignments take place at military installations, schools, youth programs, summer camps, and related worksites.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up for adults, children, youth, and families.
• Cover short-term, surge, on-demand, summer camp, and backfill assignments, including assignments lasting from a weekend to two weeks.
• Support child development centers, DoDEA and community schools, youth programs, summer camps, and military community and readiness centers.
• Deliver training and health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs and installation activities, and provide parent guidance.
• Respond to critical incidents and special requests while managing duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to DoD protocols.
• Coordinate with installation Points of Contact, regional supervisors, community resources, and military branches to ensure services meet installation needs.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a mental health-related field or social work.
• Independent behavioral health licensure valid for the applicable state, commonwealth, or customer-specific requirements.
• US citizenship and fluent English are required.
• Clinical experience and advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Ability to accept assignments on short notice, including weekends and assignments of undefined or varying duration.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing installation rules and environments, respond to emergent situations, and meet site-specific requirements such as current immunizations.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, experience as a military family member, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For CYB assignments, experience working with children and youth and a specialty in child and adolescent development or psychology.
