Military and Family Life Counselor - Short Term Assignments or On Demand

Location: Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite assignments at military installations, schools, youth programs, and related facilities.

What you will do

• Provide short-term, solution-focused, non-medical counseling to military service members, spouses, children, and youth.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, resource linkage, and follow-up.
• For child and youth assignments, support childcare centers, DoDEA and community schools, youth programs, summer camps, parents, and staff.
• Deliver training and health and wellness presentations and participate in health fairs and installation activities.
• Respond to critical incidents, special requests, duty-to-warn situations, and restricted reporting cases according to DoD protocols.
• Coordinate with installation Points of Contact, supervisors, community resources, and military branch representatives while maintaining confidential and anonymous service records.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
• Current independent behavioral health licensure meeting state, Commonwealth, or customer-specific requirements; LPC licensure may qualify.
• Clinical work experience and advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Must be able to prove United States citizenship and be fluent in English.
• Must accept short-notice assignments of varying duration, including weekends, and cover full-time assignments ranging from a weekend to two weeks.
• Must be able to work across military installations and school settings, including outdoor, uneven, and physically demanding locations, and comply with site-specific immunization or vaccination requirements when applicable.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, experience as a military family member, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For CYB assignments, experience with children and youth and specialization in child and adolescent development or psychology.
