Environmental Compliance Specialist (Energy Infrastructure): Reviewing environmental permits, compliance obligations, mitigation commitments, and regulatory risks for large-scale U.S. energy infrastructure projects with an accent on technical due diligence, lender-ready documentation, and lifecycle monitoring. Focus on preparing permit matrices and compliance reports, validating project assumptions, tracking risk mitigation, and supporting DOE financing and operational decisions.
Location: Remote within the USA, with expected on-site meetings and visits to project sites nationwide; initially identified work site at 1000 Independence Avenue SW, Washington, DC.

What you will do
- Review environmental permits, compliance obligations, mitigation commitments, and regulatory risks for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
- Support technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities for the DOE Energy Dominance Financing Program.
- Evaluate project documentation, technical and commercial interfaces, assumptions, risks, and mitigations.
- Prepare permit matrices, environmental due diligence materials, compliance monitoring reports, and regulatory risk analyses.
- Participate in data room reviews, interviews, site observations, monitoring meetings, risk register updates, and evidence reviews.
- Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy infrastructure advisory.
- Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, construction management, business, risk management, finance, or a related field.
- Experience with independent engineering review, technical due diligence, environmental permits, compliance obligations, risk assessment, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong documentation, analytical, report-writing, stakeholder coordination, and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel; familiarity with Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio.
Nice to have
- Certifications such as PMP, CQA, CIA, ISO Lead Auditor, CHMM, CSP, or PMI-RMP.
- Experience supporting DOE, LPO, lender, credit, construction monitoring, or independent engineer engagements.
