TL;DR
VP of Engineering (AI): Leading a distributed engineering organization building AI-native infrastructure, context systems, and agent-enabled development capabilities with an accent on technical vision, engineering operations, and talent strategy. Focus on scaling engineering with AI, allocating people and agents across initiatives, and ensuring reliability, observability, security, and regulatory compliance.
Location: Remote and work from anywhere; the company is fully distributed with no office and meets in person a couple of times per year.

What you will do
- Lead the flat-by-design engineering organization and evolve its operating model for an AI-native environment.
- Set the technical vision and partner with the CEO, engineering leaders, and technical product managers on software development strategy.
- Allocate engineering staff and agents across initiatives while maintaining engineering standards, delivery quality, and technical coherence.
- Own developer experience, AI and data platforms, and system infrastructure.
- Lead hiring, performance management, compensation, and talent development across Engineering.
- Ensure reliability, observability, security, and compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and NYC cybersecurity regulations.
Requirements
- 12+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading organizations through multiple company-stage transitions.
- Experience operating at a scale involving boards, investors, and executive leadership.
- Strong perspective on AI-native engineering and how AI changes engineering roles, organizations, and software delivery economics.
- Deep technical fluency in system architecture, AI and data infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
- Customer empathy and product sense, with the ability to connect business and technology decisions.
- Experience leading fully distributed teams with high trust and accountability.
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, fintech, healthcare, or similar.
- Knowledge of SOC 2, HIPAA, and state cybersecurity regulations as part of system design.
