VP of Engineering (AI)

Location: New York City / NYC-Metro, United States; hybrid with four days per week in the office

Base compensation: $250,000–$300,000 annually, plus annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the platform engineering team of AI engineers, full-stack engineers, and data scientists building a common substrate for agentic AI workflows.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, reusability, scalability, and reliability across platform and project teams.
• Provide technical direction for architecture and design, including the evolution of LLM and agentic AI systems.
• Monitor project health, allocate engineering resources, remove delivery roadblocks, and ensure high-quality delivery for customer projects.
• Improve development lifecycles from requirements gathering through deployment across multiple pods.
• Manage, mentor, hire, onboard, and support the performance and career development of engineering team members.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, including a strong background building ML/AI platforms.
• Experience delivering software that meets high compliance, auditability, reliability, and accuracy standards.
• 5+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams, including multiple projects or teams.
• Strong product delivery experience across multiple enterprise customers and customer-facing or consultancy experience.
• Proven ability to drive engineering best practices, system reliability, component reusability, and code quality.
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, plus strong communication, prioritization, and conflict-resolution skills.
