Legal Counsel - Employment Law (Financial Services)

Base pay range: $127,500–$220,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day legal advice on wage and hour compliance, hiring, discipline, performance management, terminations, accommodations, leaves, and employee benefits.
• Manage employment litigation, arbitrations, administrative charges, and internal investigations.
• Draft position statements, employment policies, separation agreements, and other employment documents.
• Oversee outside counsel, review pleadings and legal strategy, manage discovery, and support settlement negotiations.
• Partner with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Compliance, and business leaders on matters involving licensed financial professionals and regulatory reporting.
• Monitor legal developments and support training, best practices, and cross-functional legal projects.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and a Law/J.D. degree.
• 9+ years of experience practicing law.
• 3+ years of experience in financial services, banking, or a law firm supporting financial services.
• Strong employment litigation background and understanding of state and local laws.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, negotiation, organization, and client relations skills.
• Ability to provide practical advice, manage competing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with U-5 disclosures, FINRA regulations, regulatory reporting, or employment matters involving licensed financial professionals.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
