Senior Employment Counsel (Fintech)

Location: United States, remote

Base salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year, depending on geographic market, skills, and experience. Additional bonuses and equity may be offered.

What you will do

• Advise the People team on hiring, performance management, corrective actions, terminations, reductions in force, accommodations, leaves, compensation, contingent workers, and sensitive employee matters.
• Own pre-litigation claims, demand letters, EEOC and state agency charges, settlement negotiations, and employment litigation strategy with outside counsel.
• Lead internal investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower matters, and policy violations.
• Guide employment compliance for a multistate U.S. workforce, with particular focus on non-exempt employees and developments in federal, state, and local law.
• Advise on employee data privacy and information security, draft and negotiate employment documents, and maintain policies, handbooks, and compliance procedures.
• Support adjacent legal matters including privacy, information security, regulatory inquiries, non-employment disputes, ERISA and benefits, commercial contracts, and marketing review.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8–10+ years of legal experience with deep employment counseling and disputes experience, including counseling on non-exempt employee populations.
• Demonstrated expertise in California employment law and experience managing employment litigation and pre-litigation matters.
• Experience with equity compensation and executive compensation.
• Ability to advise People teams, senior executives, and business leaders and translate legal analysis into practical guidance.
• Demonstrated daily fluency with AI tools for legal research, drafting, analysis, workflow development, and risk assessment.
