Environmental Engineer | Compliance / Risk / Regulatory: Risk, Compliance & Independent Certification Support (Energy Infrastructure)

Location: Remote within the United States with on-site meetings and project-site work nationwide; initially identified work site in Washington, DC

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering advisory support for U.S. Department of Energy Energy Dominance Financing program due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
• Assess environmental permitting constraints, engineering controls, infrastructure impacts, emissions, water, waste, remediation, and compliance readiness.
• Review project documentation, data rooms, technical and commercial interfaces, assumptions, risk registers, conditions precedent evidence, and draw packages.
• Prepare defensible environmental design reviews, monitoring data analyses, regulatory submissions, operational performance metrics, and Independent Engineer reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders.
• Support borrower and contractor interviews, site observations, monitoring meetings, issue closure tracking, and DOE/LPO decision-making.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy infrastructure advisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, environmental, or a related technical field.
• Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
• Experience with independent engineering reviews, technical due diligence, risk assessment, environmental controls, data room review, report writing, and Excel-based analysis.
• Work must be performed within the United States, with availability for on-site meetings and project-site visits nationwide.
• Clear presentation, technical judgment, analytical rigor, independent and objective decision-making, defensible documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
• Experience supporting DOE, LPO, lender, credit, construction monitoring, EPC oversight, completion certification, or project finance activities.
