Manager, Engineering (Environmental/Solid Waste)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, USA; four days in the office and one day remote each week. Periodic travel to operational sites may be required.

What you will do

• Implement environmental programs, regulatory compliance initiatives, standards, policies, and best management practices.
• Monitor environmental data gaps, trends, anomalies, and month-end performance metrics; develop dashboards and insights for field and finance teams.
• Assess landfill leachate wastewater treatment, landfill gas, landfill cell construction, and cost-saving project opportunities.
• Coordinate environmental due diligence for potential acquisitions with field teams, corporate stakeholders, and third-party consultants.
• Track environmental liabilities, remediation options, project timelines, construction costs, and acquisition-related expenditures.
• Develop onboarding and ongoing training for field-based employees and communicate regulatory changes to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in solid waste management, environmental compliance, industrial wastewater, landfill gas, or related environmental or engineering work.
• Knowledge of landfill gas systems and/or landfill leachate and industrial wastewater processes.
• Knowledge of environmental site assessments, environmental due diligence, property remediation, and permit compliance.
• Ability to analyze technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents and provide effective business counsel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to executives, regulatory agencies, consultants, and vendors.
• Proficient Excel skills, including macros and pivot tables; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
