Senior Staff Software Engineer (Internet Security)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; most teams work from the office full time.

Salary: $126,000–$204,500 per year, with potential bonus and restricted stock units.

Cybersecurity company developing products and platforms designed to prevent cyberattacks and protect digital infrastructure.

What you will do

• Build and maintain threat research systems for customer-facing products and internal infrastructure.
• Develop big data and distributed systems that analyze and categorize large volumes of URLs.
• Collaborate with data scientists, security researchers, engineers, and Product Managers to define requirements and technical specifications.
• Implement backend solutions according to software development standards and best practices.
• Work with SREs on production releases, deployment, monitoring, and reliability.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of backend industry experience.
• Strong programming skills in Go or Java, with working proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing, building, and operating backend services and data pipelines on distributed systems, including regression and integration testing.
• Experience with a major cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Production experience with Linux, CI/CD, performance tuning, scalable systems, and databases such as MongoDB or MySQL.

Nice to have

• Big data and ETL experience with Spark or comparable batch or streaming frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning and web content classification.
• Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience using AI coding tools and building agent-based workflows.
