Drilling Engineer (Upstream Oil & Gas)

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and project-site visits expected; Washington, DC / nationwide across the CONUS.

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
• Review well designs, drilling programs, drilling execution feasibility, cost estimates, schedules, and technical and commercial interfaces.
• Assess well planning, drilling operations, well control, and drilling risks; validate assumptions and develop mitigations.
• Review data rooms, daily drilling reports, conditions-precedent evidence, draw packages, and borrower or contractor information.
• Prepare defensible drilling programs, well plans, risk registers, cost and schedule analyses, and Independent Engineer reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project-controls stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy-infrastructure advisory experience.
• Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
• Knowledge of technical due diligence, independent engineering review, risk assessment, well planning, drilling operations, well control, cost and schedule analysis, and lender-facing documentation.
• Ability to perform the role from within the United States and attend on-site meetings or project-site activities as required.
• Strong analytical, documentation, report-writing, presentation, stakeholder-coordination, and Microsoft Excel skills.

Nice to have

• PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
• Experience supporting DOE, LPO, credit, construction-monitoring, certification, or project-finance stakeholders.
• Experience with data analytics tools, Microsoft Access, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and other Microsoft Office applications.
