Military and Family Life Counselor - School

Location: Onsite at schools affiliated with Fort Benning, Georgia; candidates must be local or willing to relocate to become local.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up for eligible children and youth.
• Support DoDEA and community school staff, military families, youth programs, and summer camps through consultation, parent guidance, and training.
• Deliver health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs, and support installation activities focused on children and youth.
• Build working relationships with schools, installation points of contact, and community resources to coordinate appropriate services.
• Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocols.
• Document counselor activity, participate in supervision and quality initiatives, and respond to critical incidents or urgent requests as required.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental-health-related field, behavioral health, or social work.
• Current unrestricted independent license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent independently licensed behavioral health clinician.
• Less than two years of post-licensure clinical experience, plus experience with children and youth and specialization in child and adolescent development or psychology.
• Previous experience working in a school setting is required for school assignments.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English are required.
• National Agency Check and Inquiries, Installation Records Check, criminal background check, and FBI fingerprinting are required. A valid U.S. state driver’s license is also required unless specifically waived.
