Lead Professional Engineer (Energy Infrastructure)

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and visits to project sites nationwide; initial work site in Washington, DC

What you will do

• Lead independent engineering advisory services for the DOE Energy Dominance Financing Program and Loan Programs Office.
• Perform technical due diligence, credit evaluation support, lifecycle monitoring, and engineering assurance for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
• Review project documentation, technical and commercial interfaces, assumptions, risks, mitigations, conditions precedent, and disbursement readiness.
• Provide senior engineering judgment, technical sign-off, certification oversight, multidisciplinary review, and PE-level review where applicable.
• Prepare traceable, lender-ready work products, including technical opinions, review records, QA sign-offs, and engineering assurance reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and able to attend on-site meetings or project-site visits as required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, environmental, or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of experience in energy infrastructure, engineering advisory, project finance, program management, or independent engineering.
• 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams, client delivery, and senior stakeholder engagement for federal, lender, or owner-side programs.
• Experience with independent engineering review, technical due diligence, risk assessment, data-room review, report writing, Excel-based analysis, and stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to produce independent, objective, defensible documentation and translate technical evidence into risk, compliance, and financing implications.

Nice to have

• PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
• Experience across oil and gas, power, utilities, energy storage, pipelines, LNG, refineries, petrochemical facilities, or grid modernization.
• DOE, lender, owner-side, federal, or project-finance program experience.
