Engineer II (Python/Java)

Location: Remote in Latin America, with working hours overlapping the US Eastern time zone (EST).

What you will do

• Build and ship features and services within the team’s architecture.
• Migrate rapidly prototyped applications into production-grade, well-architected cloud services.
• Handle development tasks with some ambiguity by asking questions and closing requirements gaps.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering and operational excellence standards.
• Write, review, and update technical documentation while collaborating across the team.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of professional software development experience and readiness to own meaningful work with minimal guidance.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python or Java.
• Comfort working with relational databases, particularly Postgres.
• Familiarity with version control, code review, and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills for a remote, async-friendly team.

Nice to have

• Experience building cloud-based services or microservices.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and unstructured storage.
• Experience with React on the front end.
• Familiarity with Python, Java, FastAPI, Spring Boot, React, Postgres, Kubernetes, GCP, and GHA.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
