Child Care Specialist

Location: El Cajon, California; must reside in San Diego County. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, in-office role from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional travel to other local PCG offices.

Salary: $20.50–$24.50 per hour.

What you will do

• Conduct individual and group intakes for clients applying for Stage 1 subsidized childcare benefits.
• Help clients complete childcare applications and provide information about providers and available resources.
• Determine eligibility based on CalWORKs and Stage 1 Child Care regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
• Collect, verify, analyze, and process documentation while maintaining accurate and compliant case files.
• Manage a caseload using state and county systems, childcare case management software, and Microsoft Access.
• Support quality control, monthly reporting, staff training needs, performance metrics, and timely participant services.

Requirements

• AA degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency; business, social work, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
• Two to four years of case management experience, including coaching and mentoring experience.
• Four years of relevant public-sector or customer-service experience is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, active listening, professionalism, empathy, and relationship-building skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet tools, and the ability to learn specialized databases; CalSAWS experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, data analysis, reporting, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.
