Child Care Specialist

Location: Full-time onsite work in El Cajon, California; must reside in San Diego County and work Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Flexibility to travel to other PCG offices in the Central and South Region may be required.

Salary: $21.39–$25.00 per month.

What you will do

• Conduct individual and group intakes for clients applying for Stage 1 subsidized childcare benefits.
• Explain childcare applications, provider options, and available resources to participants.
• Determine eligibility according to CalWORKs and Stage 1 Child Care regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
• Collect, verify, process, and update documentation while maintaining accurate client case files.
• Manage caseloads using state and county systems, childcare case-management software, and Microsoft Access.
• Process changes and extensions, validate monthly reports, support quality control, and help meet performance objectives.

Requirements

• AA degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign-studies equivalency, preferably in business, social work, public policy, or a related field.
• Two to four years of case-management experience, with coaching and mentoring experience.
• Four years of relevant public-sector or customer-centric service experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, active listening, professionalism, empathy, and relationship-building skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, internet tools, and the ability to learn specialized databases; CalSAWS experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong accuracy, organization, confidentiality, data-analysis, reporting, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.
