Senior IT Project Manager (Healthcare IT)

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States; hybrid schedule with three days in the office per week and two remote days. Candidates must be within commuting distance of Columbia, MD.

Salary: $135,000–$165,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead the full lifecycle of complex IT systems development, software enhancements, and cloud migration projects supporting CMS.
• Manage project scope, integrated master schedules, risks, budgets, and delivery milestones using PMP practices.
• Coordinate technical development teams, CMS business owners, and external healthcare stakeholders.
• Apply CMS XLC or approved Agile methodologies to guide project delivery.
• Translate sprint-level progress into formal CMS governance and reporting documentation.
• Ensure software and data systems comply with CMS ARS, federal security regulations, HIPAA, and PHI/PII protection requirements.

Requirements

• Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
• At least 7 years of IT project management experience, including 3–5 years in healthcare IT.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain a CMS PIV badge.
• Experience combining predictive project governance with Agile/Scrum software delivery.
• Strong organizational, communication, technical writing, prioritization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Agile system development lifecycles; ability to manage ambiguity and changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Active CMS PIV badge and EUA account.
• Project management experience with CMS, CCSQ, or CMMI contract environments.
• Knowledge of FHIR, HL7, or electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs).
• SAFe knowledge.
