Head of Data & AI Architecture (Fintech)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the target-state Data & AI architecture, reference architectures, standards, and reusable design patterns.
• Architect governed data products, domain models, MDM, metadata, lineage, semantic layers, and reusable data assets.
• Design enterprise AI ecosystems covering feature stores, model development, MLOps, LLMOps, RAG, and agentic AI.
• Establish Data & AI Platforms as a Service with self-service capabilities, standardized tooling, and reusable components.
• Embed security, privacy, responsible AI, regulatory compliance, and PCI DSS requirements into architecture.
• Lead and mentor Data & AI architects, influence executive stakeholders, and drive modernization, governance, and adoption across a matrixed organization.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in data and technology architecture, including 5+ years leading enterprise-scale Data & AI architecture initiatives.
• Deep expertise in cloud data warehouses, lakehouses, streaming architectures, data modeling, domain-driven data products, and cloud-native services.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML and GenAI solutions at scale, including MLOps, LLMOps, RAG, and agentic AI.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, PCI DSS, MDM, metadata management, lineage, and semantic layers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Proven experience leading architecture teams, enterprise transformation, technology governance, executive communications, and organizational change.

Nice to have

• Payments or fintech experience with sensitive financial and payment data.
• Experience with large-scale platform integrations, modernization, post-merger technology rationalization, data mesh, or federated governance.
• Cloud architecture or enterprise architecture certifications such as TOGAF.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams and establishing architecture Centers of Excellence or Communities of Practice.
