TL;DR
Data Architect (Cloud/Databricks): Designing and modernizing enterprise data architectures for federal government missions with an accent on cloud-native platforms, big data processing, and secure data governance. Focus on building Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake solutions, integrating data models and pipelines, and supporting analytics and AI/ML use cases.
Location: Washington, DC; must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

What you will do
- Design and implement scalable architectures for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Modernize legacy data environments into cloud-based big data platforms.
- Architect solutions using Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and distributed data processing frameworks.
- Define data governance, security, and metadata management practices aligned with federal standards.
- Develop data models, pipelines, APIs, and integration strategies across multiple sources and platforms.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders and development teams, mentor engineers, and support technical proposal activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or solution architecture, including at least 3 years with cloud-based solutions.
- Expertise in Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and distributed data processing.
- Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP data services and experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and streaming architectures.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and big data query optimization.
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance are required.
Nice to have
- Cloud platform certifications, such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, or GCP Data Engineer.
- Experience with federal data modernization, digital transformation, or analytics programs.
- Familiarity with Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Purview.
- Exposure to AI/ML pipelines and MLOps in cloud environments.
