Principal Data Architect (AI)

What you will do

• Define the retail data and AI architecture blueprint across ingestion, storage, transformation, serving, governance, and AI/ML deployment.
• Architect and evolve hybrid data platforms using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Google for batch, streaming, and real-time workloads.
• Design Lakehouse, Medallion, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Data Mesh, MDM, API-first, event-driven, and ETL/ELT architectures.
• Define AI/ML architecture covering MLOps, CI/CD, feature stores, model registries, MLflow, model serving, Azure Machine Learning, Mosaic AI, and Azure OpenAI.
• Design RAG and agentic frameworks for underwriting, claims, and actuarial insurance use cases, including responsible AI guardrails.
• Lead architecture governance, security, regulatory compliance, design reviews, technology evaluations, and mentoring for engineering and architecture teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture, including at least 4 years in a senior or lead architect capacity.
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale cloud data platforms, preferably with Microsoft Azure, Google, and Databricks.
• Production experience with AI/ML systems, MLOps pipelines, LLM-powered applications, and agentic frameworks.
• Significant experience in financial services, insurance, or another regulated industry; broking domain experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience advising senior business leaders and serving as an architecture authority.
