Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration (HVAC/R)

Location: Milton, Florida, United States; on-site facility service work with travel to multiple or distant facilities and participation in an on-call rotation.

Hourly wage: $29.00–$58.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Install, configure, calibrate, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC, refrigeration, building pneumatics, control panels, and energy management systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units.
• Interpret layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and building-code requirements to ensure accurate system setup and compliant repairs.
• Implement preventive maintenance, conduct inspections, reclaim refrigerants, and document refrigerant usage in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R regulations.
• Lead field teams, mentor technicians and apprentices, communicate service outcomes to customers, and coordinate escalated issues with external providers.
• Manage service calls, parts and refrigerant inventories, work orders, warranty claims, vehicles, and on-call responses using digital scheduling tools.

Requirements

• Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification plus 2 years of relevant mechanical maintenance or construction experience, or 4 years of relevant experience.
• Current EPA Type I and Type II or Universal certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC-R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report; required commercial driving record standards apply.
• Ability to work with heavy machinery, travel between facilities, and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams and use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Nice to have

• Completion of a two-year vocational or technical HVAC/R program.
• Mechanical license in the city or state where the job is located.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation software.
