Sr. AVP, Accounting

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work policy

Base compensation: $185,000–$200,000 annually, plus discretionary annual bonus and incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Oversee accounting operations, month-end and quarter-end close deliverables, financial reporting, and management reports across multiple asset classes.
• Implement and monitor accounting policies, procedures, processes, controls, and process improvements.
• Manage relationships with Blackstone, portfolio companies, auditors, lenders, and external accounting service providers.
• Support asset acquisitions and dispositions, fund accounting requirements, lender reporting, and audit activities.
• Drive training, automation, change management, and cross-functional support across accounting teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA certification.
• At least 10 years of real estate accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 3 years leading and managing a team.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, SEC and public company reporting, REIT accounting, and SOX compliance.
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, client service, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Big Four public accounting experience.
• Commercial real estate fund reporting experience, including open-ended funds, closed-end funds, separate accounts, or REIT-related reporting.
• Experience with Workday Financials, Yardi, MRI, or financial reporting tools.
