Vice President of Accounting (Real Estate)

Location: Atlanta, GA, USA; in-office 5 days a week. The corporate office is located in the Denver Tech Center.

Salary: USD 250,000–265,000 yearly base salary plus an annual target bonus.

What you will do

• Partner with the Chief Accounting Officer and senior leadership on accounting strategy, governance, execution, and team effectiveness.
• Oversee SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, earnings support, U.S. GAAP compliance, SOX requirements, and internal controls.
• Provide executive oversight of real estate accounting, capital expenditures, debt and treasury accounting, cash management, accounts payable, insurance, transactions, and period-end close processes.
• Lead accounting modernization, process improvement, automation, data-quality initiatives, and scalable operating practices.
• Partner with technical accounting, internal and external audit, Blackstone partners, consultants, and business leaders on transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and portfolio integrations.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting leaders while strengthening accountability, succession, and team performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• CPA certification required.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including significant public company and SEC reporting experience.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience leading large, multifunctional accounting organizations, external audits, organizational change, process improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives.
• Strong executive presence, business acumen, communication, influencing skills, and ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Nice to have

• Real estate, REIT, or other asset-intensive industry experience.
• Experience in a private equity-backed or rapidly growing organization.
• Experience with finance or accounting modernization and process standardization.
• Familiarity with Workday Financials, BlackLine, Kyriba, and other modern accounting technologies.
