Senior, Software Engineer (Partner Engineer or Solution Engineer)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid work with primary in-office presence. An additional Bentonville, Arkansas salary range is listed in the posting.

Annual salary in Sunnyvale: $117,000–$234,000. Annual salary in Bentonville: $90,000–$180,000, plus potential performance bonuses and stock.

What you will do

• Guide external developers, solution providers, and partners through Walmart Marketplace API integrations.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, debug API requests and responses, and provide hands-on technical guidance.
• Recommend architectures, best practices, and reference implementations for reliable and scalable integrations.
• Develop tools, dashboards, metrics, automation, and diagnostics to monitor integration health, API usage, errors, and adoption.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to improve APIs, SDKs, onboarding flows, documentation, and developer tooling.
• Represent partner feedback in API design, roadmap prioritization, and initiatives that reduce developer friction.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, partner engineering, solutions engineering, or developer relations.
• Hands-on coding proficiency in Java, Node, Rust, or similar backend languages.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, authentication and authorization flows, and distributed systems.
• Experience debugging complex integrations involving API gateways, backend services, or data pipelines.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to external developers with varying levels of expertise.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and product trade-off evaluation.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
