Software Quality Engineer I (AI/Automation)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; hybrid. All candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Salary: $69,000–$115,000 per year, plus potential discretionary bonuses and incentives.

What you will do

• Support software quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Maintain auditable quality records and prepare evidence for quality reviews, traceability checks, and audits.
• Support KPI definition, data collection, reporting, trend analysis, and improvement plans.
• Participate in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action documentation, effectiveness tracking, and lessons learned.
• Assist with procedures, work instructions, checklists, quality plans, investigations, and cross-functional quality projects.
• Identify and support automation, dashboards, scripts, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools for quality, compliance, and audit workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Entry-level or early-career experience, typically 0–2 years, in software quality assurance, quality engineering, software engineering, testing, audit support, data analysis, scripting, automation, or process improvement.
• Foundational understanding of quality assurance, software development lifecycles, engineering, or process improvement principles.
• Basic knowledge of problem-solving and root cause analysis methods, with the ability to analyze technical records and artifacts for trends, gaps, risks, and improvements.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and prioritization skills.
• Valid authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Agile or SAFe, AS9100, DO-178, quality systems, software release processes, or enterprise work management systems.
• Experience with data reporting or visualization tools, programming, scripting, automation tooling, data analysis, or introductory AI and machine-learning concepts.
