Senior Software Engineer - AI Automation (AI)

Location: San Jose, United States. Hybrid schedule with office work generally expected Monday through Thursday; Fridays are generally flexible for remote work.

Annual base salary for California: $141,300–$360,700, plus benefits and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and develop automated test frameworks for APIs, services, and data pipelines.
• Containerize quality checks and build repeatable CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code.
• Use agentic AI to create and maintain integration tests, triage failures, and debug production issues.
• Build retrieval and context pipelines, tool-calling integrations, and MCP-style connections for AI agents.
• Establish evaluation, observability, and monitoring for test reliability, agent success, latency, cost, and triage performance.
• Create safeguards, reusable templates, and paved-path patterns while partnering with development, data engineering, and product teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation, software engineering, or adjacent fields.
• Expertise in Python or Java, with familiarity in the other language.
• Experience designing test plans, test cases, and automated frameworks for APIs, services, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based systems, prompt design, retrieval, tool use, memory handling, and agent orchestration.
• Experience with CI/CD, AWS or another major cloud platform, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform or CloudFormation, Linux, and Bash.
• Experience with production AI observability and evaluation tools, plus strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and engineering judgment.

Nice to have

• Experience with C/C++ or another systems language.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, or a related technical field, or equivalent engineering experience.
