Mainframe Architect (COBOL)

Location: Hybrid, with 50% on-site attendance in Albany or Manhattan; on-site in Albany during the first week.

What you will do

• Lead technical architecture and design for the Integrated Account System Modernization Project.
• Analyze legacy mainframe applications, databases, interfaces, and batch processes.
• Support conversion of legacy systems to modern technology platforms.
• Develop and maintain complex tax accounting applications using COBOL, Client, CICS, IDMS, DB2, MQ Series, JCL, and TSO.
• Design and optimize DB2 for z/OS and DB2 for LUW database structures, including terabyte-scale environments.
• Perform application development, data conversion, integration, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, performance tuning, maintenance, and end-user support.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience working with a government taxation organization on complex tax accounting systems.
• At least 7 years of COBOL, IDMS and DMLO, Client, CICS, IBM MQ Series, DB2 for z/OS, IBM MVS JCL, and TSO experience in an IBM mainframe environment.
• At least 3 years of experience with IBM DB2 for LUW, including databases of one terabyte or larger and XQuery.
• At least 7 years of application performance analysis and tuning experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
