Principal Engineer (IBM Mainframe)

What you will do

• Manage delivery and support for IBM z/OS infrastructure, mainframe security, performance tuning, and systems integration.
• Lead strategic mainframe projects focused on optimization, infrastructure modernization, incident prevention, and hardware consolidation.
• Develop technical roadmaps, architectural principles, governance frameworks, and best practices for mainframe environments.
• Manage security, compliance, disaster recovery, business continuity, operational resilience, KPIs, and service-level adherence.
• Implement automation and modernization tools such as z/OSMF, Zowe, and Ansible, including migration and data migration strategies.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, application teams, and senior leadership on technical solutions and infrastructure requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with IT solutions and mainframe infrastructure, including operating systems, databases, storage, and security.
• Experience with IBM mainframe hardware, CPUs, tapes, Hitachi disk, and software lifecycle management for IBM and ISV products.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery and high-availability design using GDPS and Sysplex.
• Understanding of mainframe modernization, API enablement, and integration patterns using z/OS Connect, MQ, and CICS.
• Exposure to RACF security frameworks, SOX audit support, DevOps practices, REXX or CLIST scripting, and modernization tools.
• Experience supporting enterprise-wide mainframe-to-cloud modernization and designing highly available IBM-based solutions.
