Service Technician - Master (Commercial Refrigeration)

Location: Bangor, Maine, United States; onsite

Salary: $32.36–$48.54 per hour, plus potential discretionary bonuses and incentives.

What you will do

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance, complex troubleshooting, refrigerant and oil conversions, and startup of new refrigeration equipment.
• Work with EMS controls, CO2 refrigeration, VFD motors, oil systems, wiring diagrams, and complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Mentor technicians and teach HVAC/R processes, diagnostics, parts, and repair methods.
• Resolve warranty issues, identify service opportunities, and support material and labor estimates.
• Complete service documentation and manage truck inventory, parts, and the assigned company vehicle.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• External candidates need 10 years of field experience or 7 years with technical school certification. Internal candidates need 7 years of experience plus completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record are required.
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical and mechanical repairs, EMS programming, CO2 refrigeration, compressors, oil controls, VFDs, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends and perform physical duties including climbing ladders, working at elevated locations, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, documentation, mechanical aptitude, and teaching skills are required.
