Service Technician - Master (Commercial Refrigeration)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina, or Georgetown, South Carolina. Field service work at supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.

What you will do

• Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Partner with technicians on new equipment startups and lead HVAC/R preventive-maintenance programs.
• Resolve warranty issues, prepare material and labor estimates, and identify potential service opportunities.
• Perform advanced electrical and mechanical repairs, EMS programming and troubleshooting, refrigerant and oil conversions, and complex service-call repairs.
• Manage vehicle inventory, parts, service documentation, work tickets, timesheets, and electronic communications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of field experience, or 7 years with technical-school certification; internal candidates need 7 years plus OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical repairs, HVAC maintenance, wiring diagrams, schematics, compressor operating parameters, oil systems, controls, VFDs, and refrigeration startups.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, leadership, business acumen, decision-making, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to walk long distances, crouch, climb ladders, work at heights, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and work nights or weekends as required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of CO2 refrigeration.
• HVAC/R technical school degree.
