Service Technician - Lead (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Lead service technicians across an assigned geographic area or customer/project assignment.
• Maintain, diagnose, and repair commercial refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems.
• Coordinate technical support, guidance, training, coaching, and mentorship for technicians.
• Perform surveys, prepare service and maintenance estimates, and support staffing and project costing.
• Troubleshoot complex service calls involving electrical and mechanical systems, EMS controls, wiring diagrams, compressors, oil systems, VFDs, and refrigerant and oil conversions.
• Manage customer relations, warranty issues, service documentation, vehicle inventory, parts, and assigned company vehicle.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; HVAC-R technical school education preferred.
• At least 10 years of field experience, or 7 years with technical school certification; internal candidates require 7 years plus OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, leadership, communication, decision-making, prioritization, and paperwork skills.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends, schedule and train technicians, climb ladders, work at elevations, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of commercial refrigeration, HVAC maintenance and repair, advanced wiring and schematic diagrams, EMS programming, and refrigeration startups.

Nice to have

• HVAC-R technical school degree.
• Strong knowledge of CO2 refrigeration.
• Commercial refrigeration and HVAC experience beyond basic refrigeration knowledge.
