Professional Service Technician (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of supermarket refrigeration systems and temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC/R, electrical, pressure-control, oil-management, defrost, EMS, and VFD systems.
• Perform refrigerant and oil conversions, leak detection and repair, brazing, soldering, welding, compressor replacement, and system startups.
• Manage vehicle inventory, parts ordering, billing, documentation, invoicing, and electronic communications.
• Build customer relationships and identify potential sales opportunities.
• Mentor technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive-maintenance programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC-R technical school degree is preferred.
• Seven years of field experience, or five years with technical-school certification for external candidates; internal candidates need three years as a certified technician plus completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Knowledge of commercial refrigeration, HVAC/R systems, mechanical maintenance, hand tools, electrical systems, compressors, refrigerant controls, and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends and perform physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, crouching, walking distances, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, business-acumen, organization, and paperwork skills.
