Service Technician - Certified (Commercial Refrigeration)

Location: Onsite in Charleston, Summerville, Goose Creek, or Ridgeville, South Carolina

What you will do

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Search for and repair leaks, replace compressors, motors, valves, and rack components, and install walk-in cases and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, TEVs, airflow, defrost systems, compressors, and single-phase and three-phase motors.
• Handle refrigerants and hazardous materials, including R290 and dry nitrogen, and perform system evacuation, recovery, pump-down, and charging.
• Complete work tickets, timesheets, customer paperwork, invoicing, truck inventory management, and equipment issue communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least five years of field experience, or three years with technical school certification; internal candidates need one year as a qualified technician plus completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record are required.
• Knowledge of basic electrical schematics, mechanical maintenance, hand tools, refrigeration systems, and HVAC/R equipment.
• Ability to walk, crouch, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work nights and weekends when required, with strong communication, decision-making, documentation, and customer-service skills.

Nice to have

• HVAC/R technical school degree.
• Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Strong leadership and business acumen.
