Service Technician - Lead Professional (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Lead service technicians across a defined geographic area or project and coordinate service and maintenance assignments.
• Maintain, diagnose, and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Provide technical support, coaching, training, and professional development for technicians.
• Survey customer sites and support service quoting, staffing, estimating, and project-cost evaluation.
• Perform complex troubleshooting involving compressors, refrigerant systems, parallel racks, oil management, controls, wiring diagrams, motors, defrost systems, and temperature controls.
• Manage truck inventory, vehicle maintenance, service documentation, electronic communications, and customer relationships.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 7 years of field experience, or 5 years with a technical school certification; internal candidates need 3 years as a certified technician with completed on-the-job training and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, leadership, communication, decision-making, paperwork, scheduling, and business skills.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends, climb ladders, work at elevations, crouch and walk distances, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to teach advanced commercial refrigeration procedures; knowledge of CO2 refrigeration is preferred.

Nice to have

• HVAC-R technical school degree.
• Working knowledge of basic, commercial refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
• Experience with CO2 refrigeration.
