TL;DR
Embedded Software Engineering Intern (Embedded Linux): Developing and testing Linux-based embedded systems for phased-array satellite ground stations with an accent on hardware interfaces, system integration, and production-relevant software. Focus on improving OTA updates, debugging hardware/software interactions, and testing systems with laboratory equipment.
Location: Torrance, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.
Salary: $36 per hour

What you will do
- Develop and test software for Linux-based embedded devices.
- Contribute to embedded Linux tooling, system configuration, and user-space applications.
- Improve over-the-air software update capabilities.
- Debug hardware and software integration issues with firmware and hardware engineers.
- Work with I2C, SPI, UART, USB, microcontrollers, and FPGA-based systems.
- Write tests and documentation, collaborate on system integration, and present an internship project.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Programming experience in C, C++, Rust, Python, or a similar language.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
- Understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and embedded systems or hardware/software interaction.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in a hands-on engineering environment.
- Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience with Yocto, PetaLinux, Zephyr, or FreeRTOS.
- Experience with networking fundamentals, Git, and software development workflows.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, or similar laboratory equipment.
- Projects involving embedded software, robotics, electronics, or related systems.
