Sr. Systems Engineer - Missile Tracking (Top Secret / Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid, with three days onsite per week in Huntsville, Alabama; Scottsdale, Arizona; Grand Forks, North Dakota; or Chantilly, Virginia. US citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Decompose complex requirements and model traffic data flows between satellite constellations and ground networks.
• Design pre-planned and ad-hoc scheduling strategies for satellite services used in missile tracking.
• Analyze real missile tracking data to validate and refine communication traffic models.
• Support the design and evolution of ground infrastructure for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.
• Identify and apply AI-driven solutions to improve system performance and mission outcomes.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a polygraph are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field with 8+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 6+ years of related experience.
• At least 8 years of recent experience modeling communication data, preferably involving satellite constellations and ground networks.
• Experience with satellite-to-ground RF communication protocols, packet prioritization and routing, traffic modeling, and space-ground communications or radar/IR systems.
• Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw.
• Familiarity with Java, Python, and MATLAB for system analysis, prototype algorithm development, modeling, or software developer coordination.

Nice to have

• Experience designing missile tracking systems, architectures, sensor fusion techniques, and satellite service scheduling logic.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment.
• Experience with image processing, including collection, handling, storage, and analysis.
• Experience designing algorithm-based systems for complex problems and tuning algorithms for mission parameters.
• Agile experience.
