TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer II (Aerospace): Developing and maintaining technical budgets, spacecraft requirements, verification techniques, simulations, test methods, and design documents with an accent on spacecraft mission development and hands-on flight hardware. Focus on leading technical development, analyzing vehicle functions and test data, defining interfaces and CONOPS, and managing complex systems engineering processes.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of the Long Beach systems engineering team.

Base salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $164,500–$255,275 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance.
  • Define system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, and vehicle-function analyses.
  • Develop test methods and analyze test data for spacecraft systems.
  • Lead and own the technical development of spacecraft missions.
  • Collaborate on interface specifications, CONOPS, and other design documents.
  • Support program and product management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under ITAR regulations is required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems including ADCS, EPS, space-ground communications, C&DH, and thermal control.
  • Understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, STK, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience with satellite operations and electrical, thermal vacuum, random vibration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
