TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer I (Aerospace): Developing and maintaining technical budgets, system requirements, verification methods, simulations, and test plans for spacecraft missions with an accent on systems engineering and hands-on flight hardware development. Focus on leading technical development, analyzing vehicle functions and test data, and defining spacecraft interfaces and CONOPS.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role based out of Long Beach

Base salary: $124,000–$170,500 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $144,275–$206,175 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance.
  • Define system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, and analyses across vehicle functions.
  • Develop test methods and analyze test data for spacecraft systems.
  • Lead and own the technical development of spacecraft missions.
  • Collaborate on interface specifications, CONOPS, and other design documentation.
  • Support program and product management activities while working hands-on with flight hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • For U.S. office roles, eligibility to meet ITAR requirements is required, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or applicable government authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems including ADCS, EPS, space-ground communications, C&DH, and thermal control.
  • Understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, STK, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience with satellite operations and electrical, thermal vacuum, random vibration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
