Design Engineer (Commercial Refrigeration)

Location: Bridgeton, Missouri, United States; hybrid or remote work arrangement.

What you will do

• Collaborate with lead engineers on the conceptual design and development of refrigerated display cases.
• Design formed sheet metal, fabricated copper tubing, electrical assemblies, welded structural frames, sub-assemblies, and top-level systems for manufacturing.
• Plan and coordinate product releases in the PLM system, including BOMs, specifications, test reports, and design review documentation.
• Work with product management, manufacturing, program management, supply chain, and other functions to deliver products on schedule, within budget, and to customer requirements.
• Validate designs through prototypes, first-article inspections, test plans, and test-result analysis.
• Troubleshoot products, processes, and tooling, implement corrective actions, and support engineering gate reviews including DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design and evaluation experience for refrigerated products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Competence with 3D solid modeling; Solid Edge is preferred.
• Ability to review and interpret CFD and FEA simulation results and translate them into design improvements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural analysis, and basic electrical components.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with CFD or FEA pre-processing, including meshing, material properties, loads, and boundary conditions.
• Simulation post-processing experience, including visual plots, quantitative result extraction, and design-performance validation.
• Project management and manufacturing process experience.
• Sheet metal design experience and PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
• MRP system experience with Oracle, Mapics, BAAN, or similar systems.
