Mechanical Engineer III

Location: Hybrid in Melville, New York, United States; up to 10% domestic and international travel required.

Salary: $105,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead medium- to high-complexity mechanical product designs for new product introduction and product lifecycle engineering projects.
• Analyze existing products to identify design improvements, cost-reduction opportunities, and troubleshooting solutions.
• Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and senior engineering teams on PCB mechanical dimensions, packaging requirements, integration, and keep-out zones.
• Research materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies, applying engineering economic analysis to design and raw material decisions.
• Develop product design specifications, DFMEAs, and DVP&Rs; perform simulations and design of experiments to validate design direction.
• Oversee prototype testing, manage tooling budgets and product cost targets, maintain project data, and guide technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; 4+ years of mechanical product design experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, finite element analysis, engineering materials, fabrication techniques, and production methods.
• Proficiency in advanced 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, including drafting, CAD data management, and revision control.
• Experience with design for manufacturability, prototyping, material selection, regulatory compliance, and validation testing.
• Ability to independently lead product design from concept through launch, solve complex problems, communicate effectively, and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Basic project management skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Consumer product or electromechanical product design experience.
• Experience with printed circuit boards and electronics packaging.
