Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Chicago, IL, USA (Hybrid); travel required.

Salary: $120,000 USD per year or higher depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Develop and lead HVAC and mechanical system designs for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects.
• Prepare load calculations using Trace 700/3D, IES, or similar software; perform system calculations and equipment selection.
• Conduct existing-building surveys, prepare documentation, reports, studies, drawings, and project specifications.
• Research code compliance, coordinate with other disciplines, and provide construction administration and QA/QC services.
• Lead project teams, serve as the primary client contact, and collaborate with clients, project teams, code officials, and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and assist with procurement of new work, client relations, and project interviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 8 years of design experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC system design.
• Knowledge and understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines.
• Excellent work ethic and attitude; strong communication, organizational, planning, prioritization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.
• Ability to travel.

Nice to have

• Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
